Meet the Team
Spencer Garlick
Chairperson, Run Leader, occasional hill complainer, and full-time trail enthusiast.
I help keep our Trail Running Club moving in roughly the right direction — usually uphill, often muddy, and always followed by coffee and questionable recovery choices.
Passionate about building a welcoming running community where everyone is encouraged, no one is left behind, and getting lost occasionally counts as “route exploration.”
Trevor Dobie
A trail runner by choice, road only under protest, Trevor thrives on muddy paths, wooded hills, and anywhere the route looks like it was designed by a sheep. Uphills are attacked enthusiastically; downhills approached like he’s carrying a full cup of tea.
Wears shorts all year round and always has seven pairs of running
shoes. This number never changes; it simply exists as a universal
constant despite frequent claims that he definitely doesn’t need
another pair.
Runs while protecting his mid-run banana like elite race equipment.
When faced with water on the trail, he’ll go around it, leap over it, or splash straight through it. If it’s large enough the run briefly becomes a recce for a future fishing trip.
Clare Baxter
Joined HTR about 9 years ago through the C25K course and somehow escalated things all the way to an ultra marathon, with plenty of distances conquered in between.
Runs mainly to justify an impressive chocolate habit. A total social butterfly who loves the running community almost as much as the post-run snacks. Regularly complains about hills unless they’re pointing downhill.
Special talent: discovering entirely new places to chafe that nobody knew existed.
Dawn Hart
Joined Hockley Trail Runners 8 years ago after a bet about entering a triathlon and somehow never left.
Loves the trails but mainly navigates by following others like a sheep. Regularly falls over on flat ground, never carries own water and is known for occasionally turning up at the wrong venue at the wrong time.
Club Welfare Officer for the past 2 years.
Nicknamed “Arty” thanks to a love of art and painting running themed pieces.
Louise Maynard
I started running 3 ish years ago and having got myself to 3 miles I decided it would be good to run with others and joined HTR. I have had a great time making new friends and running further than I ever thought I was capable of. I have absolutely no sense of direction so just follow the person in front of me !
I have been Treasurer for the past year .
